About Trip
Magdalena Bay, on the Pacific coast of Mexico, is one of the few places on Earth where you can witness the high-speed, coordinated hunting of Striped Marlin in open water. During the fall season, massive bait balls attract marlin, sea lions, and seabirds in a breathtaking display of predation and precision.
This rich marine ecosystem is teeming with life—encounters with sea lions, dolphins, whales, and other pelagic species are common, making every day on the water a thrilling and unpredictable adventure.
-
Each day our local captain will meet us at the dock. There will be plenty of space for your gear whether it’s wet or dry. There will be an area of shade on the boat to take shelter from the sun.
The sun here is strong so please be aware and plan accordingly.
The captain will handle boat operations and guide us to areas where we will be swimming. He will also ensure that marine life, crew, and passengers are safe in the water.
You will be required to follow the captain’s instructions on the boat at all times.
If you have any preexisting conditions that may hinder your ability to be on a moving boat please inform us at sign-up.
-
We will be staying at a campsite in safari-style tents. The accommodations will be basic, but we guarantee they will be clean, safe, and comfortable.
Please note: We will have dual occupancy tents. When sharing we assign tents with group members of the same gender.
-
Breakfast will be served at the campsite in the morning.
A packed lunch and snacks will be provided to enjoy on the boat.
We can accommodate most dietary restrictions: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, etc.
Dinners are not included, but we will book a table for all of us at a local restaurant so we can enjoy a shared meal.
If you have any food allergies, intolerances, or preferences, please list them on the sign up form.

The Pacific coast of Baja California, including Magdalena Bay, has a mild arid-subtropical climate. Thanks to the cool ocean currents, temperatures are generally comfortable—even in the warmer months.

Visibility: Typically 10–15 meters / 30–45 feet
The air and water can feel cooler due to wind and open-ocean exposure, so we recommend bringing a 3mm to 5mm wetsuit.
