Baja Peninsula, Mexico: Striped Marlin Hunting
Part 1 of 2
Dates: Nov 23rd - Nov 29
Group: 5 participants (4 minimum)
Where: Baja Peninsula, Mexico
Join us off the coast of the Southern Baja Peninsula of Mexico, as this rare event takes place. Thousands of Striped Marlins aggregate in search of their next meal.
This is a rich pelagic area, where you can find different species throughout the year. Rarely visited by divers until a few years ago, this is a good place to see sharks, bait balls, bill fish among many other species.
Anything can happen in this pelagic playground!
We will start our trip from La Paz, BCS and take our private shuttle for a 3-4 hr ride north to a fishing community close to Lopez Mateos that since a few years ago started to focus on ecotourism. This place has still not been popular to divers but allows for fantastic opportunities for a vast amount of encounters.
Striped Marlin (Kijikia audax) unlike other marlin species will school to hunt, just like sailfish. We will spend 5 days on the water looking for these beautiful fish and well as other species in the open ocean.
We will maximize your interactions and photographic opportunities by taking max of 5 guests per boat. No scuba certification or dive certifications required as you will be snorkeling. The animals move very quickly and we will be getting in and out of the water throughout the day.
Note: This trip is a two part trip. The second part continues on Nov 29th - Dec 2nd in the Sea of Cortez.
